Mega Health Camp for the people of Vikaspuri

People living in slums and rural areas are often prone to many communicable as well as curable diseases which in later stages become life threatening due to the lack of treatment. The people living in rural areas and urban slums many a times do not want to avail facilities in the hospital as it means losing a day’s wage and suffer in silence. To curb this problem Smile on Wheels mobile hospital conducted a mega health camp for the people living in the urban slums of Vikaspuri, Delhi. More than 850 people were treated for various ailments by a team of 9 specialist doctors who were assisted by a 9 member Par- medic team and 10 volunteers. Specialized services like eye check-up, identifying cataract patients and referring them to hospitals, distribution of spectacles after eye check-up, dental care, pathological and gynecological services and orthopedic services were provided to the people. Most of the people treated were daily wage laborers, women who worked as maids, children and aged people who were also made aware of various ways on how to eat healthy and inculcate healthy habits to keep diseases at bay.
