In October 2010 a partnership between Smile Foundation and the steel giant Arcelor Mittal has been established. This partnership has been signed for the launch and implementation of a mobile hospital unit in the Keonjhar district of Orissa. This is an initiative of the steel giant to promote a health seeking behavior among the people residing there.
Arcelor Mittal has one of its many production units in Keonjhar.This mobile hospital unit will be covering the entire population of the areas surrounding the location of this production unit. The main objective of the project will be to meet the primary health care needs of population residing in the districts of Keonjhar (Orissa) with focus on improving maternal and child health and combating widely prevalent diseases like TB, malaria, diarrhea etc. The SOW will strive to provide self less preventive, promotive & curative health services to the under privileged irrespective of caste, creed or religion.
