Hexaware Technologies joined hands with Smile Foundation in the year 2016 with a vision of promoting the under privileged youth of the society by equipping them with industry related skills and making them employment ready. 5 STeP centers in five different locations i.e. Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru and Pune were set up. Four steps namely, mobilization, enrollment and orientation, training and placements are followed in these centers. The youth go through different curriculum in the training period learning basic computer skills, Spoken English, Retail Management and Personality Development and Soft Skills.

Sneha Dilip Zankar, hails from a middle class family in Mumbai. After the completion of her 12th standard examinations, she was striving hard to find a suitable job. The realization of the wide gap between her skills and the job market requirements made her disappointed. But she was determined to acquire skills such as basic computer operations, spoken English, retail skills etc. The STeP centre she enrolled in gave her the perfect opportunity to learn all of this.
The meager income of her father was not sufficient to meet even the basic needs of the family which consisted of 4 members. The experience in the STeP Center filled her personality with positive energy and enthusiasm. She started looking at life with a different perspective. The career counseling sessions at the center enabled her to implement the practical guidelines which would overcome her weaknesses. After the completion of the course Sneha started working as a Data Operator. Today Sneha is very proud of herself as she supports her family.
