Empowering the underprivileged in Ranchi to lead a dignified life
This project is an effort to improve the employment opportunities of the people living in the slums areas of Ranchi, particularly the Muslim minorities. Its target groups are women, children and youth who dropped out of school and were deprived of formal education due to poor financial conditions and lack of basic facilities.
According to the census, Muslims in Jharkhand are the least literate among all the minority communities. The sufferers of this challenge are ultimately youth who do not possess the skills to match the market requirement and thus work for menial jobs in household industries from early on in life to support their family's income.
Under this project, the candidates are provided formal training in employment to bring about a change in their lives. The course curriculum comprises English Proficiency, Computer Education, Basic & Retail Sales Management, Soft Skills, Personality Development and much more.
Besides the curriculum, the students are taken to different industries for exposure visit. Career counseling sessions and placement assistance further ensure that all students are job ready and can earn a premier livelihood.
Smile Foundation has partnered with Gramin Vikas Trust (GVT) to implement the STeP project.
