Changing lives and making dreams come true with FIS
FIS and Smile Foundation joined hands in the year 2015 to work towards the education for underprivileged children and empowerment of the youth.
FIS has come forward to make these dreams a reality for the little children. Pledging its support since the year 2015 FIS has supported Mission Education centers at rural and urban settlements at Chandigarh, Gurugram, Bangalore, Mumbai and Chennai benefitting more than 1250 children so far.
With their association with the Smile Twin e—Learning programme FIS from the year 2015-2017 benefitted more than 2500 youth. Smile Twin E- learning Programme (STeP) is an initiative of Smile Foundation that aims at creating a pool of young and independent people, from a section of underprivileged youth, through skill enhancement in tandem with market requirements. It is an effort towards bridging the gap between demand and supply of skilled manpower in the fast emerging services and retail sectors of modern India.
When you talk to Asha she comes across as a silent kid but the moment she spots her friends all her shy replies turn into clever, funny ones. When asked what her choice of career would be when she grew up she replied excitedly "police-man" and very quickly corrected it in between giggles to say "police- woman".
Asha studies in the Mission Education centre in Mumbai supported by FIS.
She, like the other 400 smiling kids of the centre, has many dreams and knows that education alone can help her achieve those goals. Along with classroom teachings the children studying in the centre are also taught to be physically fit by training them in activities like self-defense etc. FIS has helped turn many dreams into reality by facilitating free of cost education for these children who otherwise would have to remain uneducated due to the lack of opportunities!
