About the Founder
Mr. Venkat Rao is a graduate from J.N.T.U Hyderabad and comes from a village in Guntur district. He established this trust with the desire to educate, awaken and help people against HIV/AID. His objective was to educate those people, who are unknowingly entangled in the unfortunate evil of HIV/AIDS, so that they are able to help themselves in the best way possible.
Dr Sunitha Krishnan has committed her life as a fulltime volunteer in Prajwala. A mental health professional, she has done extensive research and is essentially a field practitioner. She has been instrumental in rescuing hundreds of children from severely abusive conditions and restoring childhood to them. For her efforts in anti-trafficking, she has been awarded the Stree Shakthi Puraskar (National Award), Perdita Huston Human Rights Award and the World Of Children Award.
About the organisation
Arunodaya Trust envisions to create an enabling environment and behavioral change facilitation, through optimum community participation, capacity building, collectivization, advocacy, research, documentation, dissemination and sustained holistic development of the marginalized and underprivileged. Its main objective is to undertake time bound viable projects in partnerships with the vulnerable communities and like-minded resource organizations from internal and external sources to accomplish vision.
Association with Smile Foundation
Arunodaya Trust, in association with Smile Foundation, runs Smile Twin –e – Learning Programme. The programme is designed to increase the employability prospects of underprivileged adolescents by equipping them in marketable skills like English and Computer. This helps them get employment in service sectors and particularly retail outlets, BPO’s etc. Besides necessary orientation, the job oriented Smile Twin e-Learning Programme trains these young boys and girls in soft skills, basic management including retail and sales, personality development, career opportunities & counseling, team work and leadership qualities. These students are also sensitised about the gender issues, reproductive and sexual health issues and diseases like HIV/AIDS.
Arunodaya Trust also runs an orphanage home, provides food, shelter and education to the underprivileged people and conducts free medical camps for them.
