Foundation to launch projects for poor kids |

PANJIM, JUNE 22 – Smile Foundation that works
towards children’s health and education is getting set
to launch new projects in Goa aimed at empowering underprivileged
children in the State.
New Delhi-headquartered Smile which is a member-based organization
managed by a governing body comprising eminent people from the
corporate world, was recently launched in Goa. Their office
is located on the 2nd floor of Diamond Chambers, Opposite Education
Department, Panjim.
Suryakant Narvekar, deputy director – West (Smile) said
they would launch need-based project in the State. He said Smile
wants to make a difference to the society, targeting the issues
of education and healthcare for children and adolescents. It
intends to reach out to children and youth through partnership
with like-minded organizations. They have sough co-operation
from NGOs working in the fields of children’s health and
education.
As a Social venture philanthropist, Smile Foundation promotes
and catalyses universal education among underprivileged children
and helps them to move to the mainstream. Through various education
and healthcare projects, Smile has its presence in 21 states
where it works in partnership with more than 100 NGOs. It provides
the necessary technical and financial expertise to strengthen
their initiatives.
It works towards sustaining projects exclusively focused on
the girl child/adolescent girls and their socio-economic empowerment.
At the national level, it has several programmes like Swabhiman
– designed to enable girls and women realize their self-esteem
and potential in every sphere. Smile on Wheels is another programme
to take health care services to the rural villages.
