About the Founder
The founder of the organisation is Mr. Anand Ch. Sahu.
He is a youth leader, trainer and a counselor with expertise in the
field of managerial and administrative skills. The main reason behind
this foundation is to empower the oppressed and the marginalised sections
of the society.
About the Organisation
YMCA or Young Men’s Christian Association was
established in the year 1979 and is affiliated to the National Council
of YMCAs of India. The association aims to unite men, women, youth and
children as co- worker with God to promote mutual caring and love. The
organisation was set up with a vision to cater to all the sections of
the society while focusing on holistic development of the youth. The
objective of the association is to empower the oppressed and marginalized
sections of the society .In its three decade existence, YMCA, Jamshedpur
has pioneered programmes serving all the cross-sections of the citizens
of this city and its surrounding areas.

with Smile Foundation

YMCA Jamshedpur in association with Smile Foundation
runs Smile Twin –e – Learning Programme to provide extensive
training in the areas of computer skills and English proficiency to
youth in the region. As a part of personality development initiative
under Smile Twin e Learning programme, debate clubs have been organised
to encourage public speaking among the underprivileged youth of the
target communities.
Other Activities at YMCA
Cultural Activities: YMCA Cultural
activities are a platform for participants to engage in free flow of
thoughts and ideas. It is a forum where creativity, skill and talent
are nurtured. The cultural activities range from dramatics to various
forms of dance, art and craft defining the spirit of our unique and
treasured culture.
Youth
activities: The Youth activities at YMCA are a reflection of
the spirit of youth – uninhibited and spirited. The Uni-Y or University
YMCA is the Adventure programme organised by YMCA. Also leadership training
seminars are conducted to shape the minds of the future leaders. Fun
and learning blends mid way with the “Retreat Camps” that
forms the core of the youth activities along with various elocution,
debates and quizzes to improve the analytical ability and level of communication
amongst the participants.
Social activities: Awareness programmes
on health focuses primarily on improving daily hygiene, checking drug
abuse, alcohol sanitation, and prevention against deadly diseases like
T.B./Malaria or Diarrhea. In Urban Slums of Jamshedpur various blood
donation camps and Pulse Polio drive have been organised from time to
time.
Stories of Hope
Seema Kumari
Seema hails from Sonari Kumar Para, Jamshedpur.Seema
has two young siblings - a sister and a brother. Her father is a farmer
in the village while mother works as a maidservant. One of her mother’s
employer informed her of the Smile Twin e Learning Programme .With a
sincere and dedicated approach towards studies, her performance in the
course improved consistently. She joined Adarsh Seva Sadan School as
a Primary teacher and provides financial support to her family.
Triveni Deshmukh
Ms. Triveni, lives with her mother and two elder brothers
in Bhakti Nagar, Jamshedpur. Since her father’s demise , the family
had to face financial crisis..She came to know about Smile Twin e-Learning
Programme through one of the slum peer volunteer. As a part of the course,
she learned computer skills and developed profiency in English speaking
.Being a dedicated and sincere student, she joined Tata Vestige. Being
able to support her family gives her much needed satisfaction and zeal
