Target is a leading retailer
in the United States and has a legacy of giving back to
the community. Since 1946, Target has given 5 per cent of
their income to the communities they serve. Today, that
equals more than $3 million each and every week.
Fun time for Smile foundation
girls at Target

Target team members played host to a group
of 30 underprivileged girl children between the age group
of 12 to14 years
when they were recently invited for fun
and frolic at the Target office in New Delhi.
The girls were from the non-formal education
classes conducted by Rasta, a partner organisation of Smile
Foundation. It was masti and laughter for the girls as they
enjoyed games, movies, magic, music and jokes. They were
showered with a lot of gifts. While the visit was delightful
for the children, it was a great volunteering opportunity
for Target team members who were celebrating 20 years of
‘fast, fun and friendly’ work culture at Target.
Roshina (13) cannot control her smile while
sharing her experience. “Bahut maze kiye humne (We
had lots of fun). Bhaiya showed us a magic with playing
cards and they were surprised when I showed them the same
magic with sketch pens. They were interested to learn it
from me,” she says.
“I enjoyed Tom and Jerry the most
as I do not have a TV at home. I even loved watching the
animation movie,” says 14 year old Nagina.
The enthusiastic team members at Target
were amazed at the wit and active participation of these
girls. Minakshi Mishra, Director, HR, Target, shares, “There
aren’t a lot of things that gives us as much satisfaction
as spending time with children. It was a great feeling as
we shared and learned so much in such a short time.”
Rohan Diwan, Senior Rep., HR, Target opines,
“The children were absolutely amazing. We spent the
day playing and watching movies with them. I really found
the kids heart-warming and a great source of inspiration.
“
Target believes that giving is a responsibility
we all share. Volunteering is one way we make a difference
in the lives of others. By helping to strengthen communities,
we improve local economies and create a better quality of
life for everyone. The children left the office with their
hands full of bags, soft toys, stationery items etc.
