In
2006, Smile Foundation takes an innovative STeP with the mission
to empower underprivileged youth by augmenting their job prospects
through providing market oriented education.
STeP stands for Smile Twin e-Learning Programme. The ‘twin
e’ refers to English and Computer learning, two of the most
important parts of the programme.
The colour green implies renewal and growth.
The highlighted ‘e’ refers to the importance of the
‘twin e’ factor. It also emphasizes that, with booming
retail and service industries, knowledge of English and basic
Computer skills can take the common Indian youth from a state
of deprivation to another big ‘e’ of Empowerment!
The yellow underline symbolizes happiness and growth which the
endeavour brings in the lives of the underprivileged youth.
The logo ends with a statement ‘Learn to Earn.’
In brief, STeP signifies right education taking the needy youth
to livelihood and thus to a sustainable empowerment.
