Delhi NCR gets another Smile on Wheels supported by Asian Hotels
Smile
Foundation in association with Asian Hotels (North) Limited launched
a new unit of Smile on Wheels for 15 slum areas of Delhi and Gurgaon.
This is for the first time in India that a hospitality giant has
forayed in the healthcare sector for the underprivileged. This project
of Smile on Wheels will be covering a population of about 1,65,000
in slum areas namely Khori, Rangpuri, Chriya Tuglakabad, Tilpath,
Okhla, Rohini, Badli, Faridabad Vatika, Manesar Vatika, Kalyanpuri,
New Seema Puri, Janakpuri, Narela, Balabgarh & Mangolpuri and
will be managed by Operation Blessing India.
This project has the most
advanced mobile hospital unit ever developed by Smile Foundation
and has been designed under technical guidance from Birla Institute
of Scientific Research, Bhimtal (A concern of BIT). Apart from the
regular facilities, this unit also has an OT section for minor surgeries;
facilities such as X-Ray, ECG and laboratory tests; a dark room
facility with an automatic film processor; and an LCD screen, which
can be viewed from outside, for the dissemination of health related
information.
With
this new project, the Smile of Wheels programme nationally will
be covering a population of 9,97,504 in 145 slums and villages across
9 states of the country.
Speaking on the occasion Mr.
Shiv Jatia, Chairman and Managing Director of Asian Hotels (North)
Limited said, “We believe an important part of doing
business is to give back to the community that you live in. An association
between Asian Hotels (North) Limited and Smile Foundation for their
Smile on Wheels programme, is an effort to reach out to as many
communities as possible so that the basic health care facilities
are made available in the rural parts of India.”
