Corporate Social Responsibility - A way of life at RocSearch

Entrepreneurs have woken up to the fact that businesses do not exist in isolation. Customers, employees, shareholders, the general public – all form the existential network of industry and the business class has to cater to social responsibilities as well.

Being socially responsible moves beyond fulfilling legal expectations and compliance; Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a company’s way of achieving a balance between economic, environmental and social imperatives, while, at the same time, addressing shareholder and stakeholder expectations.

RocSearch India launched its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative in early 2007. Partnering with the national level venture philanthropist, Smile Foundation, we support Smile’s ‘Nai Disha’ project – a school providing free education to nearly 400 under-privileged children in NOIDA.

RocSearch employees have been actively volunteering to conduct interactive workshops for the Smile children. It now intends to arrange sports days for these children, organize arts and craft competitions, celebrate festivals at the school and sponsor achievers, apart from facilitating the entry of Nai Disha project children at mainstream schools and organizing textbooks and other study material for them.

Besides helping educate slum children in the nearby areas, CSR efforts of RocSearch have helped create a sense of employee bonding and loyalty within the firm. Priyanka, a founder-member of the RocSearch CSR team, says: “I know many of my colleagues much better now. Volunteering at Nai Disha project has enabled me to interact with colleagues who are otherwise outside my immediate work circle.”

“We are all so involved with work and family commitments that we often forget to look beyond ourselves. However, after visiting the school and interacting with the children, I realized that there is a world out there where I can make a difference by just taking out a little time. I am glad that RocSearch has given me a chance to involve myself in such initiatives,” explains Manoop, a CSR team member.

RocSearch Says :

David O’Brien, Executive Chairman, RocSearch comments on the road ahead for CSR “Regular training sessions and awareness programme should also be a part of the CSR agenda. Flexibility of ideas also proves a vital element in promoting and sustaining CSR. Corporate houses should concentrate on reviewing existing CSR policies frequently, and try replacing old ideas by ringing in new ones.”
