Sevadham Trust, Pune, registered under Public Charitable Trust Act 1950, has been of working in healthcare services provisions in rural outreach for 27 years now. This partner of Smile Foundation has also operating mobile health services in rural outreach for the last 15 years.

Sevadham Trust is managed by a group of competent doctors. It is headed by its managing trustee, Dr. Shrinivas V. Gore (M.S), an eminent surgeon and a well known name in the development sector. The board members include Dr. K. B. Wadhokar, Dr. S. K. Wadhokar and Dr. Manoj Gore – all qualified and experienced doctors in their respective fields.

At present Sevadham Trust has got two hospitals and nine static clinics catering to needy population in the rural and tribal areas of Maharashtra.

Talegaon, near Pune, will be the base for Smile on Wheels mobile hospital. From there the mobile health van will cover 20 villages to start with. The villages are Sawale, Malegaon (B), Pimpri, Malegaon (K), Shirgaon, Salunbre, Darumbre, Godumbe, Parandavi, Dhamne, Urse, Aadhe, Ozarde, Ambale, Nigade, Mangrul, Badalwadi, Mendhewadi, Jadhavwadi and Umbare Navalakh.

Frequencies of visits vary between 4 to 8 times a month depending on the healthcare need and population of the villages.

The visiting team in the mobile van includes a doctor, a nurse and technician during normal visit.

The services include OPD – curative services (common ailments), ante-natal/post-natal services, minor surgery and dressing of wounds, BP examination, identification of difficult pregnancy and referral for institutional care, immunization – mother and children, basic pathological services (blood, urine), distribution of IF tablets, VIT-A prophylaxis, growth monitoring, distribution of condoms and oral pills, insertion of IUD, X-ray, ECG etc.

 

PROJECT UPDATES

Sevadham Trust has completed one year with Smile On Wheels project . SOW is covering 20 villages, within a  distance 12 to 60 km extending services to  26000 people in Talegaon and its outreach  thus uccessfully contributing towards  object of this programme.

CASE STUDY

  1. Laxmikant Mahadeo Birajdar,  a  3 year old  boy from  Ambi village near Talegaon was affected by Organophosphrous poisoning. He was having shallow breathing and required ventilator support . He was shifted  to Unique Hospital, Chichwad through  SoW with Intubator support  ,where the child recovered completely after three days .
  1. Maruti Laxaman Dhamanker resident of Urse village was unconscious due to cerebral Haemorrahage. He could be given  intubation and life support facility available in Smile on Wheels on his way to Ruby Hall hospital , Pune where an  emergency operation was  done to save his life

Smile On Wheels is not just a door step solution for general health care and awareness  but also a life saver at times in the outreach
