Smile Foundation joins hand with NOW (New
Opportunity for Women) for a comprehensive empowerment programme
focusing on adolescent girls.
The Project
The project “Education, Life Skills
Enhancement & Vocational Training of Adolescent Girls
from Under Privileged Community” is another intervention
of Smile Foundation with holistic approach focusing on adolescent
girls from the underprivileged community through literacy,
vocational training, computer applications and awareness on
reproductive health and hygiene.
The target beneficiaries under the project
are 60 adolescents, school drop-outs, girls of 11-15 years
from ‘below poverty line’ communities in Siddhartha
Basti, Jeevan Nagar, and Ashram and Siddhartha Nagar in Delhi.
This special initiative will prepare and
ensure the adolescents getting admission in to regular schools,
reduce the drop-out rate and link up with vocational skills
training facilities which will enable them to develop their
own means of livelihood and career.
About NOW
New Opportunities for Women (NOW) is a registered
organization which was established in the year 1990, with
the purpose of partnering with women, especially under-privileged
and marginalized ones and creating bigger and better opportunities
for them
Special Focus
The highlight of the project is a package
of educational services for adolescent girls from deserving
sections of the society and mainstreaming them not only with
formal education but also with skills for livelihood.
Further, the girls so nurtured and prepared
shall be helped in getting suitable employment in various
industries. Those aspirant girls looking for higher education
or degrees on full-time and part-time basis shall also be
facilitated.
