Foundation and Nishtha has come forward to provide education
to the orphans and underprivileged children, and promote health
and environmental awareness through the project in village Subalaya,
Sonepur district of Orissa.
About the Partner
Nishtha, a voluntary organization established
in 2002, works for the promotion of the education, health care,
awareness on hygiene and environment among the people. It has
been providing remedial education to orphans and poor children
along with facilitating health care. Nishtha, joining hands
with Smile Foundation, has started an Orphan Education Centre
[OEC] catering to Orphans and Deprived Children in this remote
pocket of Orissa.
About the Project
The project aims to impart Basic and Remedial
Education to Orphans and Deprived Children. In addition to education,
emphasis is also given for the promotion of health care, hygiene
and environment among the children.

At present 43 selected and needy children between
the age group of 7 to 13 are enrolled in the free education
centre. The classes are held in two shifts and the subjects
undertaken are English, Oriya, Mathematics, General Science
and Social Science. Besides basic education, remedial education
classes are also organized for students of class IV till class
VII to improve the standard of the orphans and poor children
in study. The importance is given on the overall health as well
as behaviour of the students.
Special Focus
Uniforms are provided to all beneficiaries
Progress is monitored for all the beneficiaries on regular
basis
