Free
Comprehensive Gynaecological Camp for
Rural Women in Rajasthan
The
Health with Smile is a programme which is initiated
by Smile Foundation to be able to reach the poor
and the underprivileged population of the society
who do not have access to medical facilities or
cannot afford the cost of such treatment.
Smile Foundation organized a
free Gynaecological camp in collaboration with
Jain Women Conference on 21st and 22nd April,
2007 at Bhilwada in Rajasthan. This free health
camp was organized besides the Annual Multi-disciplinary
and Comprehensive Health Mela organized with same
partner at Bhilwara.
Health care remains beyond the
reach of the poor populace, added with lack of
health seeking behaviour. And for the women folks
in poor rural outreach, health care need is never
sought for, besides being beyond their affordability.
Thus Smile Foundation and its local partner Jain
Women Conference came up with this special intervention.
Smt. Kesar Bai Soni Hospital
in Shastri Nagar in Bhilwada was the venue for
the camp. Dr. Hansmukh. N. Agarwal and Dr. Lakshmi
Hansmukh Agarwal from the Resham Bai Fertility
Hospital, Ahmedabad treated the patients and also
carried out the operations.
The camp catered to most of the
gynaecological diseases and health problems concerning
women such as:
- Child birth related problems
- Prolapse
- Sterilization operations
- Menstruation related diseases which
covered problems such as the overflow during
menstruation and Amenorrhea.
- Post child birth cleaning
- Infertility
- Leproscopy
- Problems of white discharge
- Microscopic operation etc.
Though the foundation has also
been operating the mobile health care vans for
catering to the people residing in the remote
areas of the country and has an integrated model
of regular health check up for both children and
women in areas where its educational projects
are being run, SMILE believed that periodic medical
health camps across all the states of India with
primary services was essential to keep a check
on the incidences of health disorders among the
target population of the country.
With this vision and a comprehensive
plan, Smile Foundation has launched a national
programme for organizing periodic health camps
in different parts of the country to cater to
the impoverished or low income group population.
SMILE hopes this vision is carried
forward and the poor and the needy population
are benefited from such a venture; wherein the
partner organization such as the Jain Women Conference
also have shown their commitment towards social
upliftment and development.
