Making a difference through ‘JATRA’

Enthused by excellent response to the local action organized by it in the month of Aug’08, Orysed, a non-profit providing non-formal and remedial education to underprivileged children of Subarnapur in Orissa organized a second local action to sensitize civil society.

Subarnapur is a very backward area with limited means of entertainment with ‘Jatra’ a dance-drama opera as the biggest crowd puller in the area. To have maximum impact from the programme, Orysed organized ‘Jatra’ from 17th to 23rd Dec’08 around Christmas coinciding with the joyous and celebrative spirit of people. Around 700 people from nearby villages including senior government officials, politicians, heads of villages and local businessmen enjoyed the show. Orysed not only managed to sensitize a large target audience but also mobilized funds.
