Smile Foundation, along with
Amrapali Utkarsh Sangha, Nagpur has initiated
a project to provide residential education support
to children of deprived parents.
The beneficiaries are children
of either sex workers, poor labourers working
in stone crushers or parents from underprivileged
backgrounds around Nagpur in Maharashtra.
About The Project
The project is being implemented
through ‘Naveen Bhai Desai Residential School’.
The underprivileged children will get education
and care which otherwise would never have been
possible in their normal family environment.
There are about 104 stone crushers
in and around Nagpur alone and children of particularly
those parents who work in the crushers suffer
the most in terms of education and upbringing.
The situation is really bad for the children as
there is no school or hospital in these areas
and rarely any government or non governmental
intervention is running in the vicinity.
About The Partner
Amrapali Utkarsh Sangha is a reputed
organization working for most needy children from
different categories in Nagpur area for nearly
three decades now.
The organization have been running residential
schools, family centres, community based programmes
and coordinated care intervention especially for
children of sex workers from Ganga Jamuna Red
Light Area in Nagpur and also children of quarry
workers in Panchgaon area since 1980.
Naveen Bhai Desai Residential School is providing
residential and education facilities to 50 children
in the first year with support from Smile Foundation.
Each year 50 new students will be admitted.
