The Founders
Mr.M. Uma Maheswara Rao is the founder of Lepakshi
Educational Society. He is currently associated as a director with the
organisation. The organisation was established with the mission to provide
a life of dignity and happiness to the underprivileged communities in
Vishakapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
About the organisation
Lepakshhi Educational Society as registered
organisation under the Societies Act was established in the year 1997.
The organisation works for the development of the underprivileged communities
in urban and rural areas of the Visakhapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh,
India. The objective of the organisation is to uplift poor people by
providing formal and non formal education, shelter, life skills, health
care assistance and trainings on low cost methods for farming.
Association with Smile Foundation
Lepakshi Educational Society in association with Smile Foundation is
conducting Smile Twin e-Learning Programme to provide professional skills
in the areas of computer literacy and spoken English to the underprivileged
youth in the target communities of Vishakapatnam in Andhra Pradesh.
Other Programmes at Lepakshi Educational
Society
1. Women empowerment through various
activities including formation of Self Help Groups (SHGs).
2. Trainings to farmers on water and soil conservation.
3. HIV/AIDS awareness programmes for high risk groups.
4. Rehabilitation programmes for the street children of Free Health
Check up camps in Rural and Slum areas in Visakhapatnam.
