Smile Foundation participated in the workshop on civic
driven changes organised in Limuru, Kenya. from 8th to
10th of March 2010.The workshop helped in developing an
understanding on the involvement of people at large in
the development process to address the issues of poverty,
marginalization and human rights . The objective of the
workshop was to build global perspectives on the socio
and economic concerns that are influencing the world.
Forty four participants from across the globe were a part
of the workshop representing the uniqueness of the work
in their organisations. Most of these organisations are
working in the area of education and healthcare. Each
organisation presented its case studies and the different
aspects of community mobilisation that they are dealing
with.
The three dayworkshop organized by ‘Together for
Change alliance’ began with a session to get acquainted
with the alliance, followed by the introduction of the
organisations through group work and images. Sharing of
case studies of each orgainsation was a major component
of the workshop to develop understanding in the areas
of community mobilisation .The workshop also brought into
light the opportunities for identifying civic driven changes.

in the civic driven changes were also highlighted.
