Smile Foundation looks for social entrepreneurs
– innovative, passionate leaders with vision and ideas
about effecting change in the community through children
- their education, overall development; and creating more
social value from limited resources.
Coming across such initiatives / enterprise,
Smile seeks introductory / background information about
the person(s) or the organization; the genesis and evolution
of the intervention, target area and beneficiaries, level
of expenditures involved and source(s) of finance etc. Smile
has developed specific formats - both for individuals and
organizational initiatives - to seek such information.
On scrutiny of these information, Smile,
subsequently, enters into a dialogue with the concerned
individual/ organization; makes a conscious attempt to assess
individual's / institutional commitment, need of the area
/ community; and does an assessment of duration of support
and financial assistance along with quantity / quality of
deliverables and likely impact.
Subsequently a visit to the project site
is made by Smile's professionals which involves on-the-spot
verification of genuineness of proposed / on-going interventions,
need for the same in the geographic area / community, community
response and potentials of the community.
Audited statement of accounts of previous
year(s) is examined in case of institutions and expenditures
details of past one year in case of individual initiatives.
On the basis of above mentioned criteria,
Smile takes the conscious decision to extend its financial
and technical support, and subsequently enters into a Memorandum
of Understanding (MoU) followed by release of fund.
The approach and priority for intervention
support, as consciously followed by Smile, is bound to unearth
and support many publicity-shy, quieter and unnoticed human/
institutional welfare initiatives undertaken by socially
sensitive and dedicated people, of whom there is no dearth
of, in our vast country.
