HDFC (Housing Development Finance Corporation Limited) has joined Smile Foundation as one of its exemplary partners. Under this partnership, HDFC has joined hands with Smile Foundation to work for the welfare of orphans through education, health care and holistic development approach in remote western part of Orissa. HDFC has also extended support for Smile Foundation’s livelihood programme for marginalized adolescent youth.

As part of its social objectives, HDFC has always endeavored to contribute to economic development and social upliftment of the weaker sections of society and has professionally nurtured each of its social initiative as an investment. HDFC has undertaken development oriented work and supported several social initiatives in the areas of education, child welfare, medical research, welfare for the elderly and the handicapped among several others.

HDFC has supported expansion of the Smile Twin e-Learning Programme in three more locations – Pune, Indore and Raipur. STeP is such an initiative of Smile Foundation that aims at creating a pool of young and independent people, from the marginalized section, through skill enhancement in tandem with market requirements. It is an effort towards bridging the gap between demand and supply of skilled manpower in the fast emerging services and retail sectors of modern India. This national level programme trains the urban underprivileged adolescent youth in English Proficiency, Basic Computer Education and Soft Skills for enhancing their prospects of employment in the fast expanding retail, hospitality and BPO sectors. HDFC has also partnered with smile Foundation in supporting four orphanages in Sambalpur region of Orissa. With the support received from HDFC Smile Foundation has tried to fill the gap in basic amenities and facilities; provide for awareness creation, recreational facilities and nutritional supplements along with already ongoing educational and health care programmes for improving the lives of the children regularly.
