Shera shares the spirit of Commonwealth Games with Smile Foundation
Students from Smile Foundation
witnessed by far India’s biggest sports extravaganza, as the
Organizing Committee of the Commonwealth Games invited them as special
audience. On the fifth day of the games, 85 young students from
different STeP centres in Delhi united at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium
for this mega event. The popular mascot of the event Shera was also
specially invited to meet the Smile students.
“It was a great experience.
For the first time in my life I have realized that a very successful
career can be made in sports” said Tejveer, a STeP student.
Gayatri, another STeP student
added “It was an experience that comes very rarely. The stadium
had come alive with all the cheering and applause. Every single
person present there seemed to be full with energy. I enjoyed myself
like never before. Thank God that we are a part of Smile Foundation.
Can’t imagine how else could I come and watch the games”.
It
is a great opportunity for these young people from the underprivileged
community to be a part of this mega event. This has given them a
platform to be part of the greatest celebration of sports in India
ever. All the students were extremely happy and very excited to
be able to watch the games and were very glad that they could become
a part of the ever-to-be-remembered Commonwealth Games 2010.
