The participating organizations include Xansa, Ericssion, Citi Financial, Deutsche Bank, Reebok, Canon, Bank of America, HP, Airtel, Opto Group, Verint, TCL, GE Money, Indian Air Force, IBM Daksh and Ginni Filaments.

The tournament was set off in December 2006 with the objective of helping out 2000 street children in Delhi through Education and Healthcare support. The tournament was inaugurated by Sanjeev Sharma, the former Test Player of Indian Cricket Team on 2nd of December, 2006 with the opening match between Xansa and IBM-Daksh.

The proceeds from the tournament are dedicated towards education and health care projects in the welfare of street children. Mr. Daman Dev Sood, representing XANSA says, “This is a great tournament and I congratulate the participants for being a part of the noble cause.”

Akash Chopra, Indian Cricketer who was the chief guest for the grand finale, says, “I would like to thank and congratulate Smile Foundation for organizing a tournament to support underprivileged children. I would like to support this cause in future too.”

Mr. Kirti Azad says, “I appreciate Smile for spreading this universal courage and bring people jointly to play for a cause.”

Adding to his views, Mr. Maninder Singh said, “I used to play cricket for my passion. I pay my best wishes to them and hope that very soon these children can able to change their dreams in reality,”

Smile Foundation has chosen this platform to support the needy and deprived children. “Our aim is to empower masses through education. In a city like Delhi Street Children are among the most deserving lot to get attention. They are generally involved in rag picking, begging, selling stuffs at traffic lights, petty labour etc. Most of them are vulnerable to child abuse, runaway children or children from poor parents. For them street is their home, their playground and a place to work from as early as sunrise to as late as midnight. Understanding the seriousness of the problem, we have come forward to support these children through education and health care,” said, Mr. Santanu Mishra, Smile Foundation.

The annual event will be played at the national level from next season.

Let us bring SMILE to the children who deserve it!
