BOSCO, a Bangalore based partner of Smile Foundation has succeeded in transforming lives of many such teenagers through SMILE’s Mission Education programme. The successes of these children have set benchmark for many destitute runaways.

VIJAY BHASKAR comes from Dharmavaram in AndraPradesh. He was identified by BOSCO workers from Bangalore railway platform at a very young age. Seeing his interest in studies, he was put in a school. Vijay because of his sharp learning skills was soon mainstreamed to a nearby public school. Vijay passed class X with flying colours scoring 69% in state board exams.

Vijay has set a true example of determination despite all harsh circumstances.

BALRAJ ran away from his home in wage of difficult circumstances. With no aim in life, once when he was wandering on roadside and railway stations, BOSCO traced him and brought him to its shelter home. Depressed Balraj got a new life when he was admitted to a local school. It has been three years now and Balraj has been mainstreamed in class VIII in Lourdes School, Bangalore. He passed class X with 54%, which is a wonderful achievement.

NANJUNDA, a run away from Mysore was picked by BOSCO in 2003. He could not study because of lack of money in the family. BOSCO prepared Nanjunda to a level where he could take admission in a nearby school. With strong grounding that he received from BOSCO and his hard work, Nanjunda was admitted to St. Joseph English Medium School, Bangalore.
