"Best out of Waste" - A workshop for underprivileged adolescent girls
A
workshop for creating art and craft was organized for the underprivileged
girls and women of the Swbhiman intervention areas. This workshop
was conducted by Swatantra Rang, a group that is famous for Recycling
and Waste Management workshops with the less privileged people.
Their workshops are known to be innovative and bring something new
every time.
The workshop conducted for
the Swabhiman girls consists of Art and Craft activities such as
Painting, Sketching, Drawing and making something innovative from
waste materials. It included making of Flower Vases and Photo Frames
from waste material. 19 girls had taken part in this workshop.
The products made in the Workshop will be showcased in exhibitions
organised by Smile Foundation and other institutes and corporates.
Art and craft learnt in this Workshop has also given a new sense
of confidence and creativity to the underprivileged girls and women
from the slums. They will now be able to utilize this art in their
personal lives, as well as to start a small venture of their own.
These efforts would lead the beneficiaries of Smile Foundation towards
the road of empowerment.
