Smile Foundation has formed
partnership with Arya Anathalaya (Orphanage),
a highly reputed institution working in multiple
disciplines for the welfare of orphans.
The project will be based in New Delhi.
The Partner & the Project
Arya Orphanage was started
way back in 1918 by the national leader Swami
Shraddhanand, with a vision to support, bringing
up and educating helpless orphan children and
making them self reliant. The project was started
initially with sixteen orphan children. Presently
Arya Orphanage (a registered society) and its
sister institutions, are providing food, shelter,
clothing and education (all free of cost charge)
to 1475 orphan boys and girls in two campus
in Delhi city –Arya Orphanage in Pataudi
House, Daryaganj and the second one in Desh
Raj Campus in East of Kailash.
Arya Orphanage (Pataudi House)
has Arya Bal Griha (Arya Boys Home) –
home for 600 orphan boys, Arya Kanya Sadan (Arya
Girls Home) – home for 300 orphan girls,
and Rani Dutta Arya Vidyalaya (Rani Dutta Arya
School) – a Senior Secondary School from
class I to Class XII (for 850 inmates orphan
children living in Arya Kanya Sadan and Rani
Dutta Arya Vidyalaya).
In the Des Raj Campus (East
of Kailash) has Chhatravas (Students Hostel)-
home for 325 orphan girls, Chandra Ashraya Griha
(Chandra Shelter Home) – another home
for 75 orphan girls, Chandra Arya Vidya Mandir
(Chandra Arya School) – Senior Secondary
School with 650 students from class VI to class
XII for girls living in Chandra Ashraya Griha,
Chhatravas and a few from outside. Chandra Shram
Shakti – Vocational Centre for Girls.
Chandra Kala Kendra (Chandra Art Centre) –
Centre for dance, music and fine arts for girls.
Arya Anathalaya (Arya Orphanage)
is also running Krishna Dutta Health Centre
which is a unique centre for Nature Cure &
Yoga, successfully treating patients by drugless
therapies. 60 patients can also avail residential
treatment. Chandra College for Yoga and Naturopathy
of Arya Orphanage provides a one year diploma
in Nature Cure & Yoga for 60 students every
year.
Beginning the relationship,
Smile Foundation has installed 80 KV generator
at Arya Anathalaya, Pataudi House.
Following are the facilities and tradition
at Arya Anathalaya :
• The doors of Arya Orphanage
are always open for every orphan and destitute
children.
• At the time of admission
every child is provided with two sets of clothes
to wear; the school uniform, seasonal apparel,
other fancy clothes.
• These children are provided
lodging and boarding, school uniform, stationery,
bed and all other amenities.
• All children study in
schools situated in the campuses, qualified
part-time teachers are appointed for remedial
studies.
• For the physical development
of children, ‘Shramdan’, exercise,
sports and games are indispensable part of
the daily- routine.
• A well – equipped
computer room having all the facilities, has
been established in both the campuses.
• Every child is provided
with wholesome, nutrition diet to ensure his/her
good physical and mental health. The breakfast
includes fruits, biscuits, herbal Gurukul
tea or milk. Rice, Pulses, chapattis, salad
etc. are given in lunch and dinner.
• Weak and Sick children
are provided with milk and fruits according
to the instructions given by the doctors.
• Library- cum- reading rooms possess children’s
literature and books on religious, historical,
social, political and literary subjects, daily
newspaper. The inmates are motivated to read
them.
• During summer vacations,
emphasis laid on extra – curricular
activities special coaching is provided to
children in music, dance, craft, drawing,
painting and sports.
Projection for the year:
• The project will
endeavour to provide quality education to
all the children.
• Ensuring 100% pass
percentage in Arya Orphanage.
• To ensure additional
training of the children on family life education,
life skill training to adolescents boys and
girls.
• Ensure that all
the children studying for class 10th and 12th
secure more than 60% marks in examination.
